Laurie Young sings lead vocals and often joins the horn section on trumpet. Her musical interest started with trumpet back in high school and then switched to vocals when she attended University of Michigan and joined their show choir “Amazin Blues”. She had an epiphany when she heard singer Linda Ronstadt perform on campus. It was her crisp clear and perfect vibrato that drove Laurie to pursue music more seriously. She has performed in bands for over 30 years and while in New York City she performed the National Anthem for Knicks and Rangers games at Madison Square Garden. She loves the variety and complexity of music that “Group Therapy” plays and the common goal of the band to raise money for charities. She states “I couldn’t be playing with a nicer group of people”!
She owns an Optometric practice in Natick and is wife to Mark and mom to Alex and Matthew who are both currently in college.

George Moore plays bass and shares vocal duties. His singing and playing reflect a love for soul, blues, funk, country and rock. "Group Therapy is the perfect band for me because the exceptionally wide variety of material always keeps things interesting...for the crowd and for me! Having multiple singers also enable us to showcase our vocal harmonies, a GT hallmark." George has been performing and recording in the Boston area for 20+ years. His bass and vocal work has appeared on national TV shows.

Bob Brunsdon (vocals and percussion) began singing, playing piano and drumming in Elementary School, and was classically trained on percussion and mallet instruments while attending high school. During that time, he sang with various choirs/ensembles, played in the high school band, performed with professional bands, community and pit orchestras and toured with the Michigan Youth Band. Bob hails from Detroit, where he was heavily influenced by early motown, R&B, blues and jazz, and of course, anything in his older brother’s album collection ;-)

Pat Dreier (keyboards, vocals) studied music theory at Amherst College and arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music. He brings nearly 40 years of performing, recording and teaching experience to the band (and his studio and learning center Encore Academy) as a guitar, piano, theory, and audio recording instructor. As a performer, he has shared stages with James Brown, Tower of Power, Billy Idol, Eric Burdon & the Animals, Billy Squier, Gregg Allman Band, The Tubes, Blue Oyster Cult, Billy Cobham, Bob Weir (Grateful Dead), Peter Wolf (J. Geils), Matt “Guitar” Murphy (Blues Brothers), Kenny Gradney (Little Feat), the Ramones, Gary U.S. Bonds, Southside Johnny, Jim Carroll and Lenny Kaye (Patti Smyth), Marshall Crenshaw, Buster Poindexter/David Johansen (NY Dolls), Dez Dickerson (Prince), Beaver Brown, Grand Funk, Badfinger, and many others. He has toured extensively throughout the northeastern U.S., as well as in Bermuda and Europe. He is currently performing with Jamie Walker & Friends, Group Therapy, and the Groove Doctors.
As a recording engineer and producer, he is highly sought after and his experience spans a wide variety of styles – from rap and club to rock, pop, EDM, K-Pop, jazz, classical, and musical theater. He has worked with nationally-known producers, engineers and artists in a recording career spanning several decades.

David Weden plays guitar, banjo, and mandolin. He enjoys all forms of music, especially jazz, rock, blues, and country. Major influences include Rolling Stones, Jeff Beck, John McLaughlin, Eric Clapton, and (on a good day) Wes Montgomery. Since joining GT, David has expanded his tastes into arrangements involving the horn section for Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, and other "big-band" tunes. "What I like about Group Therapy is that the band can play any style of music, we are really good at getting the crowd on their feet and moving, and the musicianship is demanding. We also tend to play nice venues! What more could a musician want?". When not playing music, David works in the investment field in Boston, enjoys fly fishing, and spending time with his wife and family.

Doug Ambos (drums, acoustic guitar) has played all types of music since learning to play drums in elementary school. He appropriated his brother’s guitar in high school and learned enough to play it in the jazz band because his best friend was the better drummer anyway. During a gap year before college he worked as the music librarian at WCRB, learning a fair amount about classical music as a result. At college he studied music before choosing electrical engineering as perhaps a better career path, and has kept musically active ever since by playing in jazz ensembles, pit orchestras, and multiple rock/folk/country bands.
GT is truly therapeutic for him, and he loves the fact that this band can play ANYTHING, and that we are all good friends.
Doug recently retired from designing electronics and software for the pro audio market and now spends his time volunteering at a local arts center and professionally running sound for area bands.
He thanks his wife Barbara for her support and great suggestions of songs for Group Therapy to play.
